Nestled in the heart of the Alt Camp wine region, in Montferri, a unique wine tourism experience awaits, blending history, passion, and quality. Before entering, imagine a family-run winery where their own vineyards, hand-harvested, organically grown, and cultivated with patience, form the foundation of a project that began in 1991. This is the offering of Bodega Vives Ambròs, a winery that not only produces cavas and aged wines, but also boasts vineyards, an underground cellar, and, finally, an extensive and carefully curated tasting.

The story of the vineyard and tradition

The Vives family of "Ca l'Ambròs" has been rooted in the territory for five generations and more; today they cultivate their own organic vineyards of nearly 30 hectares. They decided to become a winery in 1991, but with one premise: to make artisanal, long-aged cavas, growing from quality, not quantity.

This means harvesting by hand, caring for the grapes, and respecting the natural rhythm of the process: fermentation, aging, and resting. You'll find a place where every bottle has its own story.

A visit that transports you

When you arrive in Montferri, at Calle Major 39, you will be welcomed by this wine-growing environment where nature and viticulture go hand in hand.

The guided tour begins with a visit to the winery facilities, from the grape reception area and the winemaking facilities, until you descend to a very special space: the underground cellar. It's a cool, quiet place where time seems to slow down. Here, in 14 interconnected vats dating back to the 1960s, the cavas undergo their long aging process. This atmosphere, with its stone walls, coolness, and silence, provides a sensory experience that goes far beyond a simple technical explanation.

The tasting moment: a journey through the senses

After the guided tour comes the moment many have been waiting for: the tasting. Bodega Vives Ambròs invites you to sample a complete itinerary that includes 10 to 12 different cavas and still wines.

Imagine tasting an Ancestral, a Cava Rosado Reserva, cavas aged for 3, 5, and even 8 years—yes, time matters here—a wine made with the indigenous Cartoixà Rojo grape variety, the "Jujol" as a tribute to the architect associated with the winery… And then, still wines: a white wine from vineyards fermented in ceramic amphorae, and a young red wine and another aged in French oak barrels. Each sip, each bottle, is a chapter in the winery's history.

Why is this experience special?

This is no ordinary winery. There are several reasons that make it stand out:

  • Due to its family-run and artisanal nature, it is not a large industry; it is a vineyard and winery with its own unique character.
  • Through our own organic viticulture, which strengthens our connection with the land.
  • Due to the long aging process, up to eight years, which gives complexity and depth to the products.
  • The atmosphere of the underground cellar also contributes to making the visit an active, not just theoretical, experience.
  • Because of the variety of tastings included, which allows you to learn about both sparkling wines and still wines, it broadens your perspective and experience.
  • And, because of the authenticity of the surroundings: Montferri, the Alt Camp, the rural proximity, the vineyards… All of this adds up.

What should I take with me when I leave?

When you leave this experience, you will not only have the memory of the visit and the tasting, but also the awareness of having entered a world where each bottle is the fruit of patience and care.

In addition, the winery shop allows you to take home or order some of their award-winning wines to continue the experience at home. And, of course, there's the experience itself: an afternoon in the heart of wine and cava country, where you learn, enjoy, and share.
