El Ripollès is a mountain region, located in the Girona Pyrenees, located 100 km from Barcelona and 80 km from the Costa Brava. It is made up of the Vall de Ribes, Valle de Camprodon and Baix Ripollès, encompassing the 19 towns that dot the territory, most of them of medieval origin.

The mountains of the Pyrenees and the two rivers that cross it from north to south, the Ter and the Freser, give their name to the Capçaleres del Ter y del Freser Natural Park, a magnificent high mountain area in the heart of the Girona Pyrenees with 14,725 ha. with peaks such as Puigmal or Bastiments, touching 3000 m. Tall.

Heritage

Visit the Ripollès heritage, a territory with a great historical and cultural past, considered the "Bressol de Catalunya", with more than 98 monuments of Romanesque art in the Pyrenees distributed among the 19 towns in the region. We highlight the Monastery of Sant Joan de las Abadesses, which houses the Most Holy Mystery; the 12th century portal of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll, a candidate to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and the Monastery of Sant Pere and the Puente Nuevo de Camprodon. We must also highlight the Romanesque church of Sant Jaume de Queralbs, the front of the altar of Sant Esteve de Llanars or the church of Santa Cecília de Molló, as well as the Santuario de Montgrony or Vallfogona de Ripollès, a small rural town and its medieval nucleus. You also have to see Dòrria and Beget, declared a Historic and Artistic Heritage Site (BCIN).

Hiking, natural areas and mountain stations

In Ripollès, walk through the Capçaleres del Ter y del Freser Natural Park, a magnificent high mountain area where you will find the emblematic ascents to Puigmal, Fontalba, Marcos, Ulldeter, Mentet and Costabona.

Vallter 2000 is located in the glacial cirque of Morens-Ull de Ter. It is a cozy and familiar resort, it becomes a magnificent viewpoint of the Costa Brava offers us excursions, ascent with chairlift in summer and alpine ski resort in winter.

An ideal station for practicing outdoor sports and mountain activities: alpine skiing and snowboarding, ski touring, snowshoeing... Its location makes it the ideal destination for the whole family to enjoy the mountains anywhere time of the year.

La Vall de Núria, located at an altitude of 2,000 m where it can only be accessed with a singular transport, the Vall de Núria rack railway, a 12.5 km route with a spectacular high mountain landscape. It begins in Ribes de Freser and, passing through Queralbs, overcomes a drop of more than 1,000 m.

Walk through Itinerannia, a network of signposted trails of more than 2,500 km between the regions of Ripollès, La Garrotxa and Alt Empordà, which recovers the old historical paths between the Girona Pyrenees and the Costa Brava. Great crossings by GR11 "Sendero del Pirineo", the GR151 "El Camino Oliba" or the "Camino de Sant Jaume". In this magnificent environment, sports tourism stands out, with more than 90 races and sporting events in nature throughout the year!
