Cornellà del Terri's main festival
The Cornellà del Terri Festival is celebrated every year during Easter weekend, and it's an event that brings together a wide variety of activities for all ages. This festival has been declared a Traditional Festival of National Interest by the Generalitat of Catalonia, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the reinstatement of the Maypole Planting, one of the most emblematic events of the celebration.
The program of activities is very varied and includes options for all ages. On Friday, April 3rd, the activities begin with the carving of the Maypole at 12:00 PM, followed by a community meal starting at 2:00 PM. In the afternoon, there will be a sausage-making competition at 4:00 PM, a MIC scavenger hunt at 4:30 PM, and the arrival of La Clika, a family group, at 6:30 PM. The day will conclude with performances by Mazoni and DJ Saiqel at 10:00 PM.
On Saturday, April 4th, the festivities will continue with the opening of the exhibition "1976. Fiftieth Anniversary of the May Tree Festival after Francoism. 50 Years of Freedom" at 11:00 AM. There will also be a community treasure hunt, an inflatable playground, and a traditional vermouth gathering at 12:30 PM. In the afternoon, attendees can enjoy a family theater performance by Pere Hosta and a football match between veterans of AE Cornellà del Terri and Bàscara FC. The evening will conclude with concerts by Hermano Negro, Pelukaas, and DJ Salaa.
On Sunday, April 5th, the day will begin with the 15th Classic Car Meet and a gathering of cava bottle label collectors. At 12:30 pm, Andreu Comas Vallmajor will deliver the opening address. In the afternoon, there will be an Easter concert featuring various choirs, as well as a theatrical performance and a parade with the Trastokts Big Band. The day will conclude with a concert and dance featuring the group Millenium.
Finally, on Monday, April 6th, the Planting of the May Tree and the Ball del Cornut (Dance of the Horn) will take place, the most popular event of the festival.
