The Castellot, the watchtower of the Marca del Penedès - Trekultura
Organized by: Trekultura
Walk through the vineyards of Sant Jaume dels Domenys and Castellví de la Marca!
We propose an unforgettable experience in the Penedès region. We will travel to the municipalities of Sant Jaume dels Domenys and Castellví de la Marca, straddling Tarragona and Barcelona, with the aim of discovering a border territory where history and the landscape of the characteristic limestone rocks have created a unique identity.
We will walk through a mosaic of traditional vineyards and interpret the richness of this Mediterranean environment. We will observe how the vines and pine forest adapt to these drylands and, if the weather has been right, we might even see a vineyard displaying its first autumn colors.
We will delve into the area's rich heritage. We will contemplate the architectural mastery of the Roman aqueduct of Los Arcos and admire the medieval silhouette of the old church of Sant Sadurní de la Marca, while uncovering the historical episodes and oral traditions that have shaped the character of this region.
And we will climb to the remains of the Castellot fortification and its chapel of Sant Miquel, legendary witnesses of the old defensive line of the Marches. An exceptional strategic vantage point from which the vastness of the Penedès vineyards can be seen.
We're waiting for you!
