Festival of Creixell

Popular culture and folklore are manifested in the Festival of Sant Jaume in Creixell.

It has been celebrated since ancient times; the Ordinations of Creixell already speak of this party. It is traditional for Sant Jaume to accompany the authorities in a procession to the church, which is called going to the Solemn Office, accompanied by a copla or a music band.

It is curious to see how, over the years, the growing tradition that also participates in this Procession along with the authorities of the City Council, the Justice of the Peace, the town Pharmacist and the Chief of the Local Police is still in force.

The image of the Patron Sant Jaume is taken out in Procession through the streets of the Villa.

When leaving office, the traditional Sardanas dance is done.

For a few years now, the Popular Follow-up has participated in the Procession, made up of the giants and the big-headed from La Vila, the Esmarris de Creixell gang of giants, the Creixell Giants and Big-headed gang, the Creixell Devils Dance gang, the "Units pels Gegants" group, the trabucaires of the Serrallonga Dance and the Creixell "espurnes".

The Festival of Sant Jaume is actually the Small Festival of Creixell. But with the passage of time in which agriculture gave way to tourism, the Fiesta de Sant Jaume is more successful in terms of events and has acquired greater importance.
