  3. Elektra - Water and Light…
From 25 to 27 September
Tremp
This event is over.

Tremp celebrates another edition of Elektra, the Festival of Water and Light, a cultural event that commemorates the transformation of the Pallars region following the construction of large hydroelectric infrastructure projects in the early 20th century. This year, the festival focuses particularly on the workers, migrations, and social changes brought about by the arrival of thousands of workers to the area.

Over the weekend, various venues in Tremp will host street performances, historical tours, theater, lectures, exhibitions, and guided visits. The program will explore how hydroelectric projects altered the landscape, the economy, and daily life, as well as how they transformed the local society and fostered new forms of community, commerce, and leisure.

The story will be presented in a variety of formats. There will be interactive activities recreating the arrival of the workers, guided tours of sites associated with that era, and youth activities that will introduce visitors to heritage through video games. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about the hydroelectric project that helped transform Catalonia.

Music will complete the program with concerts of traditional music and proposals linked to musical heritage, while the opening show will turn light into the common thread of a traveling proposal through the streets of Tremp.

Elektra is thus a different way to discover Tremp: a festival that combines history, memory, heritage and spectacle to understand how water and electricity changed Pallars forever.
