Licors Portet 1883 La Pobla de Segur
The Portet 1883 liquor factory is located on Avenida de San Miguel del Pui, number 4 in La Pobla de Segur in the Pallars Jussà region. It was founded in 1883 by the Borrell Ribera family and later passed into the hands of the Portet family.
The visit begins at the Ratafia Space, a small museum of tools, photographs and old liquor labels where you can also see an important collection of miniatures of liquors from around the world and a collection of more than 100 bottles of liquor from Catalonia, France, the United States, Poland and Italy.
In the factory itself, the story of more than 130 years is told, the various traditional Pyrenean liqueurs that are made (anise, cassis liqueur, beer liqueur, forest fruit liqueur, pacharán, mushroom brandy, orange, licorice liqueur,...) and, especially, the tradition of ratafía in Catalonia with its origin linked to peasant houses and monastic roots.
The explanation of the production process of Ratafía los Raiers stands out, a liquor with a 50-year tradition, made from macerated green walnuts and aromatic plants distilled in a bain-marie still with a wood fire.
You visit the space where the still is, the winery with the barrels and the bottling and labeling area, all within a very manual and artisanal process.
End the visit with a tasting of the different liquors and the possibility of buying in the attached store.
The visit and tasting are free, but it is essential to make a reservation in advance to know availability.
