Municipalities in Catalonia with the Gender Equality badge, SG CITY 50-50

The Gender Equality Badge is much more than a certification: it is a declaration of commitment by municipalities that work to integrate the gender perspective into all their local policies and actions. This internationally recognised seal is awarded by the FORGENDER SEAL Association and recognises the efforts of those municipalities that place equality between women and men at the centre of their public management.

Municipalities that obtain the Gender Equality Distinction demonstrate a high level of commitment to effective equality. This certification not only evaluates the actions already carried out, but also promotes continuous improvement, ensuring that local policies not only comply with current regulations on women's human rights, but also move towards a more inclusive and participatory society.

The seal has three levels of certification (initial, advanced and leader), which reflect the degree of commitment of each municipality to the implementation of policies with a gender perspective. These levels allow for the recognition of the progress and continuous efforts of local governments, offering an opportunity to improve and refine their actions in favor of equality.

SG CITY 50-50 standard: the key tool for certification

A fundamental piece in this process is the SG CITY 50-50 Standard, the first tool that allows the implementation and evaluation of a gender equality management system within local governments. This standard offers municipalities a clear and structured methodology to integrate equality into their daily governance, guaranteeing effective and transparent management of municipal resources dedicated to this cause.

The process includes a self-diagnosis that helps each municipality to identify its needs and establish a Commitment Plan, adapted to the resources and capacities of the territory. This ensures that each municipality can advance towards equality in a progressive and measurable way, allowing clear accountability to citizens.

Municipalities that have obtained the Gender Equality Distinction are examples of transparency, responsibility and commitment to women's rights and gender equality.
