Fort of La Mota de Sant Pere (Cubelles)

The Fort of La Mota de Sant Pere, in Cubelles, is an interesting vestige of the military architecture of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Located very close to the former Civil Guard barracks, this defensive complex was part of the fortifications built to protect and monitor the coastline against potential attacks. Today, it stands as a testament to the town's wartime past and a point of interest for history buffs.

The construction of the fort dates back to approximately 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, when the need to reinforce coastal defenses spurred the creation of several strategic military installations. Originally, the fort bordered the small summit of Mota de Sant Pere, although this layout is no longer clearly visible. The complex consisted of a military observation post and two machine gun nests, essential elements for detecting potential threats and organizing the defense of the area.

The fortification also had two latrines and two water tanks, facilities that met the basic needs of the soldiers stationed there. A communication path and an active trench connected the different areas and facilitated rapid movement in case of attack, without exposing them directly to enemy fire.
