Church of Saint Mary (Cubelles)

In the heart of Cubelles' historic center stands the Church of Saint Mary, one of the town's most emblematic religious buildings and a landmark of its architectural heritage. With a history dating back to the Middle Ages, this church has witnessed the evolution of the town and its religious traditions throughout the centuries.

Although it is believed that a church already existed on this site in the 13th century, no visible traces of it remain. The current building dates from 1737, a time when religious architecture was heavily influenced by the Baroque style. Later, in 1765, the bell tower was built, which became one of the most distinctive features of Cubelles' skyline.

From an architectural standpoint, the Church of Saint Mary has a rectangular floor plan with three naves, divided into different sections marked externally by buttresses. This structure provides solidity to the whole and allows for the organization of the interior space of the church. One of its most distinctive features is the façade, which imitates rusticated stonework, a decorative element that gives the building depth and character.

Among the most outstanding ornamental elements are the stained-glass windows and the rose window, which enhance the beauty of the church and allow natural light to enter. Their installation was commissioned by Joan Pedro i Roig, who also oversaw the laying of much of the church's flooring, contributing to the improvement and beautification of the religious space.
