La Selva
La Selva is a region located between the Costa Brava and the pre-coastal mountain ranges of Catalonia, offering a varied landscape that combines beaches and coves of great beauty with mountains and lush forests. This geographical diversity makes La Selva an ideal destination for both nature lovers and those seeking culture, history and a quality tourist offer.
On the coast, there are towns such as Lloret de Mar and Blanes, renowned for their golden sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. Lloret de Mar, with its hidden coves such as Cala Boadella or Cala Sa Boadella, offers a mix of family and leisure tourism, with a wide range of hotels, restaurants and activities. Blanes, considered the gateway to the Costa Brava, is famous for its Marimurtra Botanical Garden, which has more than 4.000 species of plants and spectacular views of the sea. It is also known for its international fireworks competition during the summer festivals.
The interior of the Selva hides historical and natural treasures of enormous value. Santa Coloma de Farners, the capital of the region, is known for its thermal springs and its natural surroundings, with hiking trails that run through the forests of the area. A few kilometres away is Caldes de Malavella, a spa town famous for its mineral-medicinal waters, with Roman remains such as the Roman Baths and modern spas that take advantage of these natural resources.
The region also has an important monumental heritage, with places such as the Montsoriu Castle, one of the most important Gothic fortresses in Catalonia, located in the heart of the Montseny Massif, a natural park declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. This park offers mountain routes and an impressive ecological wealth, making it an ideal place for hiking and nature tourism.
The cuisine of the Selva is rich and varied, with influences from both the sea and the mountains. Fresh fish and seafood from the Costa Brava are combined with typical inland products such as mushrooms, sausages and grilled meats. In addition, the region is famous for its sweets such as Santa Coloma biscuits or Empordà fritters.
Enjoy the beaches of the Costa Brava, explore its mountain landscapes and discover its historical and thermal heritage. La Selva offers a complete experience, where nature, culture and gastronomy come together in perfect harmony.
