femturisme.cat wins the 2024 Llengua Nacional Award for our commitment to Catalan

At femturisme.cat we are proud to have received the 2024 Llengua Nacional Award. This recognition, awarded by the Llengua Nacional Association with the support of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, highlights the work of people and entities that, like us, work every day to promote and preserve the use of the Catalan language.

From day one, our project has had as its priority objective to make Catalan the vehicular language of all our tourist proposals. We do so with the conviction that sustainable and local tourism is a powerful tool to strengthen ties with the territory and to preserve what makes us unique: our language and culture.

For us, this award represents much more than just recognition. It is an incentive that encourages us to continue working to make Catalan a tool for cultural and social cohesion. During the award ceremony, we had the opportunity to express what this award means to us:

"This award encourages us to continue working to make Catalan a tool for cultural and social cohesion. We know that the use of the language is in danger in certain areas, especially among young people, but we believe that tourism can be a key tool to reverse this situation."

Recent data show a worrying reality: the regular use of Catalan has decreased in some sectors of the population and the territory. This situation highlights the need for projects such as ours, which contribute to making the use of the language visible and prestigious in areas such as tourism.

This recognition is another step in our path to continue defending a type of tourism that values language and culture as fundamental elements. At femturisme.cat we will continue working to offer experiences that help us connect with the territory and promote Catalan as a language of encounter and identity.
