Castelltallat Astronomical Observatory: a privileged window to discover the universe

In the heart of the Castelltallat mountain range, in a privileged natural setting and at almost 1,000 meters above sea level, the Castelltallat Astronomical Observatory - Starlight Park offers a unique experience for discovering the secrets of the night sky. Renowned for the quality of its night sky, one of the darkest in Central Catalonia, this facility has become a leading center for bringing astronomy to all audiences through outreach, observation, and a sense of wonder.

The observatory's most iconic offering is "The Sky of...", an activity that changes throughout the year, following the rhythm of the seasons. Each visit offers a different perspective on the sky: during winter, the majesty of the Orion constellation takes center stage; in summer, the Milky Way illuminates the night in all its splendor; while spring and autumn allow visitors to discover distant galaxies, star clusters, and the ever-changing features of the Moon. This constant evolution makes each observation a unique and unforgettable experience.

The sessions, which last about two hours, begin with a guided tour of the "The Proportions of the Solar System" exhibition, followed by an informative talk on stellar evolution that helps visitors better understand the phenomena of the universe. The highlight comes under the observatory dome, where visitors directly observe celestial objects through telescopes.

One of the aspects that sets Castelltallat apart is its commitment to completely authentic observation. There are no screens, projections, or simulations: the stars are observed exactly as they appear in the sky, directly through the eyepieces of the telescopes. This way of experiencing astronomy allows for a deeper connection with space and a real understanding of the immensity of the cosmos.

Throughout the year, the observatory also organizes Themed Nights, special sessions dedicated to specific astronomical phenomena such as meteor showers, the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, or the most representative constellations of each season. These activities combine informative presentations with direct observation, catering to both beginners in astronomy and enthusiasts who wish to deepen their knowledge of the sky.

For those seeking an even more exclusive experience, the Exclusive Universe package allows you to reserve the observatory for up to six people. This option fully personalizes the session according to the group's interests, offering the possibility of choosing the objects to observe, delving deeper into specific topics, or even operating the telescope and photographing the Moon.

Just an hour from the Barcelona metropolitan area, the Castelltallat Astronomical Observatory invites you to discover one of nature's great spectacles: a sky that is never the same and that offers, on each visit, a new opportunity to marvel at the immensity of the universe.
