Located in the center of Palafrugell, the Suro (Cork) Museum is a unique institution due to its themes, territorial scope, and dedication to service. It acquires, preserves, interprets, and enhances the heritage of cork in Catalonia, shaping a shared landscape, industry, way of life, and identity.

Its purpose is to contribute to the social, economic, and cultural development of the community; to offer support for formal education and as a proposal for informal education; and to provide an alternative for creation and leisure.

The Suro (Cork) Museum is located in a former cork factory, the most important in the industrial sector in Spain. In addition to a significant history within the sector, it boasts elements that are unusual in cork oak constructions, often functional buildings with no concessions to decorative elements or the involvement of renowned architects. This aspect makes the complex even more significant, highlighting its modernist elements, dimensions, and structure.

The Cork Museum also manages the Can Mario Modernist Depot Interpretation Centre and the Sant Sebastià de la Guarda Monumental Complex in Llafranc.

Come to the Museo del Suro (Cork) to discover our new exhibition "The Cork Civilization"! We've completely renovated the museum with a 1,200 m² exhibition featuring around 700 objects, many of them never before seen. You can explore different spaces such as "The Cork Revolution", an introductory audiovisual; "Cork Landscapes", a visual and sensorial journey; and "Cork", to discover its extraction, properties, and uses; and "Cork Culture", more than an industry, a way of life.

We also have learning spaces for everyone, such as Minimundo and Suberlab, as well as Literasuro, an accessible reading space. On the first floor, the permanent exhibition presents the historical evolution of cork, from its beginnings in manufacturing to robotization and future challenges for the sector. Special attention is paid to how this evolution has influenced society. You'll also find a space dedicated to creativity and craftsmanship, as well as a cork play area for everyone.

You'll enjoy an innovative, accessible museum design adapted to the new demands of 21st-century audiences, with a narrative that offers diverse interpretations tailored to each visitor's interests. Don't miss the opportunity to learn about the world of cork through its heritage and its stories. Discover interactive elements that will teach you how the machinery works, all with a social and forward-looking perspective.

We look forward to seeing you!
