The first written record of a fountain in Vallfogona dates from 1603. It is a document listing expenses paid by the university councilors of that time. This information suggests that, by the early 17th century, the village already had a fountain located in the town center, right next to the public bread oven, known as the Forn fountain.

Although its exact construction and original appearance are unknown, this fountain represented a significant engineering feat for its time. To bring water to the village, it was necessary to channel it from the Santa Caterina area, where the Ballart fountain is located, to the center of Vallfogona. This route was approximately 1,200 meters long and was constructed using carved stone channels and a stone reservoir located in the town center.

Its location, opposite the public oven, was not only to provide water to the inhabitants, but also served a very important practical function: facilitating the making of bread, an essential food in the daily life of the village. The water from this fountain comes from a rocky area near the Sant Pere road and is considered one of the best in the municipality.

It is worth noting that, in the time of the rector of Vallfogona, the fountain was also known as the fountain of les Canyes, probably because this plant grew around it.

Currently, the water from the fountain is channeled to Francesc Vicent Garcia Square, located in the center of Vallfogona. This fountain is part of the town's historical heritage and serves as a reminder of the importance of the water supply in the lives of its inhabitants.
