Located on a hill overlooking the town of Sentmenat, Sentmenat Castle is one of the most emblematic elements of the municipality's historical heritage. This ancient fortification of medieval origin stands out for its strategic location and for a history closely linked to the noble families who controlled the territory for centuries.

The castle is documented as early as the 11th century, in the heart of the Middle Ages, when fortifications played a fundamental role in the defense and control of territories. Thanks to its elevated position, it allowed for the surveillance of a significant portion of the surrounding area and control of access to this part of the Vallès region. Throughout its history, it belonged to various noble lineages, most notably the Sentmenat family, closely linked to the history and name of the municipality.

During the Middle Ages, Sentmenat Castle played an important defensive role and witnessed several local conflicts. Over the centuries, however, military needs changed, and the fortification gradually lost its original function, eventually falling into disrepair.

Currently, the castle is in a state of partial ruin, although it still retains architectural elements that allow us to recognize part of its historical structure, such as the stone walls and the remains of towers. These vestiges evoke the medieval past of the building and its former fortified character.

The castle is also steeped in legends and folklore. According to oral tradition, underground passageways once connected it to other parts of the municipality, although no archaeological evidence has been found. There are also tales of supposed treasures hidden during times of war that have never been discovered.

Discovering Sentmenat Castle is a great opportunity to learn about the medieval history of Sentmenat, discover its architectural heritage, and enjoy the surrounding landscape of this ancient fortification.
