The Chapel of Sant Simplici, located in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana, is an interesting example of Romanesque religious heritage. This small church, steeped in history and tradition, has undergone various transformations over the centuries and retains architectural elements that allow us to trace its evolution from the Middle Ages to the present day.

The first documentary reference to the chapel dates from 1232, when Guillem de Centelles bequeathed the Sant Simplici farmhouse to his son Bernat. Later, in 1389, the parish priest Nicolau Oromir made a bequest to this chapel, confirming its importance within the religious life of the parish of Santa Eulàlia.

The building has a rectangular floor plan with a single nave, a semicircular apse, and a gabled roof covered with Arabic tiles. The main façade is notable for its small bell gable with a single opening and a stone oculus located directly below it. The doorway retains a lintel with the inscription "IHS/MA/ANY/1568," evidence of the significant renovation carried out during the 16th century.

In the 18th century, further modifications were introduced, most notably the construction, in 1730, of a side altar dedicated to Saint James the Apostle. A farmhouse was added to the north side of the church, becoming integrated into the architectural complex and retaining traditional features such as brickwork and a sundial.

One of the most unique features of Sant Simplici is that the hermit's house also served as a school from the late 18th to the early 20th century. By 1776, the hermit was already working as a teacher, transforming this space into a religious and educational meeting place for the local inhabitants.

The chapel was also known for its traditional July pilgrimage, which was interrupted by the Civil War, during which the building suffered damage. Restoration work began in 1991, and the pilgrimage was reinstated in 1997. Today, the Chapel of Sant Simplici remains a valuable testament to the history, architecture, and popular traditions of Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana.
