In the small hamlet of El Pedrís, in the municipality of Bellcaire d'Urgell, stands the church of Sant Pere de Pedrís, a temple that stands out for its simple architecture and the strong connection it maintains with the local community. Surrounded by the characteristic rural landscape of the Urgell plain, this church is an example of how popular devotion has helped preserve the religious traditions of the area.

The current building is a 20th-century construction that was erected to replace the old Romanesque church of El Pedrís, which no longer exists. The new construction was made possible thanks to the help and collaboration of the parishioners, who joined forces to recover a space for worship and gathering for the inhabitants of this small village.

From an architectural standpoint, Sant Pere de Pedrís has a rectangular floor plan with curved shorter sides, a distinctive feature that gives it a unique silhouette. The building is constructed entirely of exposed brick, a material that reinforces its austere and functional character, typical of vernacular architecture. The simplicity of its forms and the absence of elaborate ornamentation lend it a discreet yet authentic personality.

Beyond its architectural value, the church has played an important role as a meeting point and place of religious celebration for the inhabitants of El Pedrís, keeping alive the community function that these small rural temples have traditionally performed.

Included in the Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Catalonia, Sant Pere de Pedrís is an interesting visit for lovers of rural heritage and lesser-known places. It is accessed via the Pedrís road, which starts at kilometer 139.7 of the C-53 highway, between Tàrrega and Balaguer. An opportunity to discover a peaceful corner of the Noguera region and learn about a part of its local history.
