The Castanyeda of Gavatx (Arbúcies)

In the heart of the Montseny Natural Park, Arbúcies is one of the most interesting destinations for discovering chestnut forests and enjoying the autumn landscapes. Among its many natural spots, the Castanyeda del Gavatx stands out, a place surrounded by lush vegetation that invites you to venture into the mountains and discover the rich forests of this region.

The chestnut grove is located along the PR-C 204 trail, which connects Arbúcies with Santa Fe del Montseny. The route starts in the village and climbs along shady paths and trails, passing the Castanyeda del Gavatx spring and other areas where chestnut trees share space with holm oaks, oaks, and beeches.

One of the great attractions of the excursion is the Castaño Gros dels Roters, a monumental tree with a trunk of almost ten meters in circumference that is surprising for its dimensions.

During the months of October and November, this sector of Montseny offers a particularly attractive experience, with the colors of autumn, the ground covered with leaves and the possibility of observing the chestnuts falling from the trees.

La Castanyeda del Gavatx is a good option to discover chestnut trees in the Girona region and combine a mountain excursion with the discovery of the natural heritage of Montseny.
