The revolution of sculpture at the Escaldes-Engordany Art Centre
Organized by: Escaldes - Engordany (Parròquia)
From July 1 to October 31, 2026, the Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany (CAEE) presents "The Revolution of Sculpture," an exhibition that invites you to discover the great transformations that sculpture underwent throughout the 20th century.
The exhibition brings together a selection of forty works that offer an insight into the evolution of this discipline and the new artistic languages that emerged during this period. Artists such as Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, Meret Oppenheim, Jorge Oteiza, Miquel Barceló, and Antonio López are part of a journey that shows how experimentation with new materials, forms, volumes, and creative processes contributed to breaking with the conventions of traditional sculpture.
The exhibition is complemented by a comprehensive program of activities designed to delve deeper into the exhibition's content and introduce sculpture to audiences of all ages. Free guided tours are offered every Saturday at 5 pm, without prior reservation, except on September 12th and October 10th. Nighttime visits, talks, and lectures on the evolution of sculpture are also planned, as well as a walking tour to discover art in the streets of Escaldes-Engordany.
The program also includes an introductory sculpture workshop, the art history course "La Clau" and various children's activities that invite the little ones to experiment with recycled materials, everyday objects and clay.
The CAEE is open Monday to Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Sundays in July and August, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Except for the guided tours on Saturdays, activities have limited places and require prior booking.
