Catalonia is a land steeped in history. Stories passed down through generations, told around the fire, transforming castles, mountains, hermitages, forests, and villages into settings for extraordinary events. Some tell of witches, demons, and fantastical creatures; others of knights, princesses, bandits, hidden treasures, or real people whom time has turned into legends.

In collaboration with @unitatdellegenda, femturisme.cat invites you to embark on a unique journey through Catalonia, a route to discover the region through its legends. Because behind many of the places we visit lies a surprising story that helps us understand its history, its identity, and how its inhabitants have imagined the world throughout the centuries.

In this space, we will gather the legends we discover throughout the region. We will travel from the peaks of the Pyrenees to the Terres de l'Ebre, passing through the inland forests, medieval villages, cities, and the most mysterious corners of the Catalan coast. Each story will be an invitation to explore a place, delve into its past, and see it with fresh eyes.

Legends are part of our intangible heritage. Although they blend reality and fantasy, they preserve the memory of peoples and reflect their fears, beliefs, hopes, and traditions. They often explain what history has failed to clarify: the origin of a natural formation, the construction of an impossible monument, an inexplicable noise in the middle of the forest, or the presence of a mysterious figure that no one has been able to forget.
