Vilanant

Vilanant is a small rural town of the Alt Empordà, surrounded by fields and forests and bathed by two rivers, the Manol and the Rissec and with a very characteristic space "La Garriga d'Empordà" rich in fauna, flora and dry stone constructions. Together with Vilanant, we find the nucleus of Taravaus, a small town annexed in Vilanant with narrow alleys and a very peculiar rural charm.

Vilanant and Taravaus are municipalities with a wide variety of routes for hiking and mountain biking. Healthy routes through cattle trails and charming trails.

In May you have to visit the Firaflor, always on the second weekend of the month. In summer, the Mayor festival in August and in winter the solidary tió or the fiesta of San Martín de Taravaus.

Notable buildings: the Church of Santa María de Vilanant, Church of San Martín de Taravaus, the Trull de Cal Fuster oil, the Chapel of Santiago de los Verders.

Notable sites: La Garriga d'Empordà (fauna, flora and walls and dry stone barracks (BCIL)), the Can Nabot forest with the Twin oaks.
