Vilajuïga

Province: Girona | Shire: Alt Empordà | Inhabitants: 1.155 | Extension: 13,1 Km2 | Altitude: 31 m

Its privileged location in the middle of two natural parks a short distance from Figueres, Roses and Llançà, and very well connected with the rest of the region; has made Vilajuïga become a very dynamic place.

Its location and the level of services available have prompted many young couples from the surrounding area to establish their residence. The current population is just over 1000 inhabitants.

However, in the municipality the cultivation of the vineyard and the olive tree continues to predominate, which occupies the entire western sector. The most important production is rosé wines, although red wines of the Almez variety and the typical Garnacha from Empordà wineries are also worth mentioning. The production of the municipality is protected under the Denomination of Origin Empordà. Likewise, mineral water continues to be exploited, which is sold bottled and to which great healing qualities are attributed.
