Sobremunt

On the Sobremunt mountain range is the municipality of the same name, riding on the Plana de Vic and the Lluçanès. Numerous streams flow through the mountains that converge into the Sorreigs stream, a very interesting natural space, which overlooks the Ter. It is one of the most rural municipalities of Lluçanès, with three basic sectors: the town of Sobremunt, the hamlets of Sorreigs and Santa Llúcia de Sobremunt.

The town of Sobremunt is located northeast of Lluçanès, on an elevated point with beautiful views towards the valley where the urban area of Sant Boi de Lluçanès is located. A quiet, perched town with a dispersed core, with small groups of houses, some dating from the 18th century. In the center stands out the parish church of Sant Martí, also dating from the 18th century with an attached rectory that already existed in 1094.

Within the municipal area is the church of Santa Llúcia, documented in the 14th century, which preserves Romanesque remains at the base of the temple, and a beautiful viewpoint at 959 meters that offers spectacular views dominating a wide panoramic view of the Plana de Vic, the Pyrenees and Montserrat.

And the Sorreigs stream, a protected natural area since 1992, within the plan of areas of natural interest of the Generalitat of Catalonia (PEIN) and the Natura 2000 Network that overlooks the Ter. The Sorreigs stream is a river ecosystem of natural interest, a reservoir of life and biodiversity with an attractive relief, abrupt and enchanted, a source of legends, anecdotes and local traditions. The natural environment and the livestock farming activity that surrounds it are part of the rich natural and cultural heritage of Lluçanès, which must be respected by everyone.
