Rialp

The baptism of the waters of the Noguera Pallaresa animates the smallest corners of the town of Llavorsí, from where the river starts again after receiving the waters of the Noguera de Cardós. At the time of the thaw, the river falls strongly and is filled with rafting canoes that descend through the high mountains in a unique natural environment.

Traditions mark the character of the other five towns in the municipality: Aidí, an exclusive viewpoint with views of the Noguera Pallaresa valley; Arestui and Baiasca, planted in a magnificent valley worthy of a postcard; Montenatró, located in the heart of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park; Romadriu, a lost oasis of peace and tranquility; and Sant Romà de Tavèrnoles, an abandoned town rich in anecdotes.

Tradition and modernity

Tradition permeates the cobbled streets of the towns in the municipality of Rialp. Herds of sheep, cows and horses dot the meadows of the impressive Àssua valley, where livestock farming is still alive. The remains of the Rialp castle testify to the town's medieval past, with a working-class tradition, while the richness of the architectural heritage is reflected in the local mountains through the bell towers and slate roofs.

Without renouncing their past, the villages of the town have managed to adapt to modern times to offer the necessary services to the skiers at the Port Ainé resort, to the adventurers who have come to challenge the white waters of the Noguera Pallaresa and to the hikers interested in discovering exciting nature along the numerous paths of the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and the Alt Pirineu Natural Park.
