Martorell
Martorell is a municipality of the Baix Llobregat, located on the right bank of the Llobregat in the place of confluence with the Anoia, a river that crosses through the middle of its territory. It has an area of 12.8 km².
The geographical situation of the municipal area, at the junction between the Pre-coastal Depression and the Llobregat valley, makes Martorell a communications hub of great importance.
Historical-monumental resources
Bridge of the Devil
The Devil's Bridge, one of the most emblematic monuments of Martorell, has its origins in the Roman era; The bridge was built between the years from 10 to 1 BC and will be part of the infrastructure of the so-called Via Augusta, which followed the Mediterranean from Rome to Gadex (the current Cadiz).
L'Enrajolada
Museum founded in 1876 by Francesc Santacana and Campmany (1810-1.896). It is one of the oldest museums in Catalonia, an example of nineteenth-century collecting.
Vicenç Ros Municipal Museum
The museum was inaugurated in 1945 and occupies a part of the former Convent of the Capuchins, located at the foot of the Sierra de las Torretas. It was founded in 1945 by Vicente Ros and Battllevell (1883 to 1970).
Llopart House
Casal that conserves some interesting windows, one Gothic and another Renaissance one.
The Tower of Hours
It was the residence of Francesc Pujols, a philosopher, poet, playwright and art critic from Martorell. It is a clear example of a 19th century mansion.
Natural resources
The municipality has a rich natural heritage mostly shared with neighboring towns, which must withstand strong urban and use pressure and the passage of numerous infrastructures.
Can Casas Park
The Can Casas park is located northwest of Martorell and occupies an area of 22 hectares. The Can Casas forest park is an essential space for the municipality of Martorell, both for its consideration as Forest of public utility and, especially, for its leisure function and physical scenario for the realization of environmental education activities .
Rivers
Martorell is located at the point of confluence between the Anoia River and the Llobregat River.
The Llobregat River is a river with typically Mediterranean characteristics: great irregularity of flows and strong fast swells especially in spring and autumn.
The Anoia River is one of the main tributaries of the Llobregat River. Located on the right bank of the Llobregat.
Sierra del Altaix
The mountainous zone of Martorell concentrates in the south of the municipality where the crest makes of limit of the municipal term. Numerous roads and paths cross this part of the mountain, which borders the protected area of the Ordal Mountains and becomes a good watchtower to contemplate the entire municipality and much of the north of the region.
