La Pera

West of the Baix Empordà is the short cut of Pera. This is the center of the municipality of different population centers that form; Púbol Pedrinyà Riuras neighborhood and the same urban area. The Pera is located in the valley of the same name. The surrounding territory is rugged due to the presence of Gavarres to the west and by the gentle peaks of the eastern side. However, the central area where the valley is undulating.

Púbol

Púbol is a small town in the Baix Empordà which has about 200 inhabitants approximately, which depends on the municipality of the Pera.

Existing documents speak of this nucleus and in 1017, and its famous castle, later, the year 1065, when it passed to the Counts of Barcelona.

The castle passed through different hands over time, but it is with family Corbera, about the fifteenth century, when it was their time of greatest splendor. Even so, its importance stems from this fact.

The medieval castle is so well known because the 1969 Salvador Dalí Gala promises, the love of his life, buying a house, which was finally Pubol Castle. Dalí bought it in very bad condition, and was Dalí himself who restored and painted. Once restored Dali gave it to his beloved and has therefore become one of his most pure excellence.

When he died Gala, Dalí's buried in the basement of the castle where you installed a mausoleum.

North of the Castle, and within its architectural, also find the church of Sant Pere de Púbol dated 1424-1438 year.

This was one of the richest churches in the district as it had a large collection of ancient religious objects. All of these have been lost or destroyed over time, except for the XV century Gothic altarpiece that you can visit at the Diocesan Museum of Gerona.

Today, still preserved fragments of the wall that surrounded and protected the people. Can Canada's house has a hallway that leads to the inside of this wall, the walls.
