Isòvol

The municipality is located on the right side of the Segre and in the place where the Duran River drains, which is part of the so-called Isòvol Strait. It acts as a natural boundary between Baixa Cerdanya and Batllia or Little Cerdanya. It forms the lower part of Valltova or the Duran valley and its most outstanding and characteristic features are the Isòvol hill (1,288 m) and, partially, Montcurto -or Cortús, as the estadantes call it- (1,377.9 m). In addition, it is watered by the Comadrona streams -which drain into the Duran-, Els Bous -which descends through the Forn plain and the Isòvol plain-, de la Sosa and Gros, as well as by the Cerdanya irrigation channel, all located in the sun.

The area of the term is almost exclusively cultivated and, for the most part, irrigated. Meadows dominate, followed by fallow, fodder and wheat. Of forest as such, there are only 28 ha, represented by the Scots pine -Olopte area-. On the western coasts, black pine is found. The rest is made up of scrub and grass-scrub and scrub-black pine associations, the latter in a reduced area.
