Guils de Cerdanya

It is a municipality dedicated mainly to the agricultural and livestock sector. The beauty offered by its landscapes has made Guils a place of tourist visit par excellence. Tourism has fostered the restoration of old houses and the construction of urbanizations such as Roc Foradat, Barrio de Golf or La Arboleda.

Guils has an elongated shape, bordering the Tramuntana with the municipalities of Porta and Tour de Querol, Levante with Tour, Enveig and Puigcerdà, Bolvir and Puigcerdà to the south and Bolvir and Ger to the west.

The mountain, which occupies the entire Pontine part of the term, has a forest area of: 1,202 ha of non-consortium public utility, 359 ha of meadows and pastures, and 1,514 ha of communal, unprofitable, high mountain rocky areas. It also has 553 cultivated areas, of which 268 are irrigated.

The Guils Fontanera Nordic ski slopes are one of the top tourist attractions. To access it, you have to go right to the entrance to the town of Guils, where you will find the crossroads of the track that leads to the mountain, there are 7 km to reach the Plain of Fontanera at 1900 m. The tracks have a development of about 40 km in the middle of the forest; There are ski rental services, instructors, a bar-restaurant and a lounge area.

Parish of Sant Vicenc de Saneja

The parish of Sant Vicenç is in the town of Saneja, located on the right bank of the Aravó river, at the foot of Mount Saneja.

The first certain mention of this parish temple, from the year 1088, corresponds to a deed of donation of two land fish in the abbey of Sant Martí del Canigó, at the entrance of Ramón as a monk of this monastery; one of the land fish was located beyond the church of Saneja (qui est trans ipsa ecclesia) and confronted, on the one hand, with a land of Sant Martí del Canigó, and on the other, with one of Sant Miquel de Cuixà.

Parish Church of Sant Esteve

The parish church of Guils de Cerdanya is undoubtedly one of the best Romanesque architectural jewels in Cerdanya. Its existence dates back to the beginning of the 9th century, specifically in the year 839, as confirmed by the act of consecration of the Seu d'Urgell, where it is cited as a parish under the name "EGUILS".

Sant Martí d'Aravó Bridge

It is located at an altitude of 1,150 m, very close to the suburbs of Puigcerdà, to the right of the Querol river, called Aravó here, like the town. The Sant Martí d'Aravó bridge spans the course of the river, serving as a margin for the municipalities of Guils and Puigcerdà.

This bridge of Roman origin through which the Ceretana strata passed, has two eyes, whose arches date from the 14th century, the time when it was reconstructed. Next to the bridge, a hermitage dedicated to Sant Martí was built in the 10th century.
