Granyena de les Garrigues is located in the westernmost part of the region of Les Garrigues, along with the neighboring county of Segrià and Alcanó municipalities, Torrebesses, the Granadella, Soleràs i the Cogul. Its geography is marked by extremely long and stepped terraces that adapt to uneven ground, between the valley and the Comapruneda Major, and you are busy, no doubt, by farms olives, almonds and cereals.

Formerly part of the barony of Granadella, a town very close to it. These facts make the people hold many medieval features, including narrow streets and some houses of stone. Even so, one of the most characteristic elements, and from which they develop other facts, phenomena, history or buildings, is the olive. Thanks to him, he came to build the two churches of which the population enjoys: the current de Sant Miquel, the eighteenth century and the Romanesque, also of the same saint, the twelfth century.

In the new church of Sant Miquel can see a Baroque façade with a door decorated with columns supporting an arch which had been the coffin with the remains of Sant Miquel, surprised to be inside a single nave and neoclassical. In the ancient church façade highlight the transitional Romanesque style to Gothic, the interior, however, has half-round columns and capitals with floral decorations, similar to Gardeny Castle. The chapels that can be seen even today, in good condition are of the fourteenth and follow a pattern more typical of the Gothic.

Continuing with the religious buildings, not far from the village, we found the hermitage of Mare de Deu del Roser, located at the top of the Tossal of Clotat. The building is modern and has a curious rectangular with an approximate area of ??65m2, but the peculiarity of this church is not limited to this single element, but also is characteristic bell tower has a metal frame and holding the bell and the cross. This makes about 9 meters. It also highlights the main facade with a large stone door and two windows.

A part of these types of religious elements, the town also offers other attractions. Among them are archaeological exhibits located in the same building as the town hall and we can visit the evenings on weekends, within the municipal Barrull find the rock formed by a round huts, a raft of stone, a Romanesque font, known Font as the Moors and an oil mill dating from 1857, which is called the Valley Major.

The Festival of Granyena de les Garrigues is held the first weekend in October.
