Gósol
Located in the heart of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees, Gósol is a charming town that invites visitors to discover its historical, cultural, and natural treasures. With a privileged location in the Berguedà region, Gósol offers a unique experience for those looking to unwind and immerse themselves in an authentic, historic setting.
The village of Gósol is located at the south of the Cadí mountain range, in the southwest of the Pas dels Gosolans, a place that has witnessed history since time immemorial. Findings of flint and axes confirm that this area was already inhabited during the Neolithic period. The original settlement was probably located in Tossalet de Sant Genís, and later, in pre-Roman times, the population settled on small hills that would become landmarks for castles and churches. The name Gósol appears documented for the first time in 839 in the consecration deed of Santa María de la Seu d'Urgell.
Gósol offers several hiking trails that allow visitors to explore the surrounding area and enjoy spectacular scenery. The "Camí dels Bons Homes" (GR-107) is a long-distance trail that passes through the town and follows the footsteps of the Cathars as they fled from religious persecution.
