Figuerola del Camp
The urban complex of Figuerola del Camp is built on top of a small hill, which determines a structure of small streets, largely steep, at the top of which, in the area known as the Castell, there was a fortification that has now disappeared. Very close to this place, on Dalt street, the parish church of Sant Jaume stands out, dating from the end of the 18th century and built on the old Romanesque temple, the rose window and some windows are preserved, and the Cal Maleter house, in the modernist with decorative elements of ceramic and worked iron. Walking through the streets, you can find cozy corners such as Font de la Vila , Calle Mayor, where the house of the monks of Poblet stands out, or Calle de les Portelles with Cal Balanyà, an 18th century manor house. On Calle del Solar, the main artery of the municipality, you can see the façade of the Headquarters of the Sant Jaume Agricultural Cooperative; Noucentista building dating from 1921 that stands out for its large balcony with balusters and Cal Mercader, a building declared a Cultural Asset of Local Interest, which inside houses an oratory dedicated to San Antonio Abad.
Pont del Diable and Cova del Gat
Aqueduct or dry stone bridge located over the Torrent de los Masos, 3.6 km from the town center of Figuerola in the direction of the Valls road and the Mixarda Tower.
It consists of a semicircular arch 8 meters high, 18 meters long and 0.80 meters wide and rests, on both sides, on the rock on the banks of the torrent.
The first known news dates back to the year 1285, when the abbot of Poblet gave the water and the aqueduct to the men of Valls.
Following the path towards Fontscaldes, and 200 meters from Mas d'en Llop, you will find the path that will lead you to the Cova del Gat. It is a burial cave from the Chalcolithic or early bronze period, where burials were carried out. It was excavated by Dr. Salvador Vilaseca in 1934 and subsequently various archaeological interventions were carried out.
In the excavations, human bones, ceramic fragments decorated with cords and buttons, flint, necklace beads and remains of fauna have been found.
