Old Road from Maçanet de Cabrenys to Tapis
This itinerary crosses the old road from Maçanet de Cabrenys to Tapis, used for years by the locals to move from one town to another. Although part of the road has served as the axis of the new road that joins the two towns, the old route that runs between cork forests is still preserved.
Of medium difficulty this itinerary has a total distance of 4.6 km that can be done with an approximate time of 1 hour and 20 minutes. The cumulative difference is 343 meters.
The itinerary begins in the Plaza de la Oficina de Turismo and we go up the slope of the parking lot, on the left. We take the road between the houses, next to the supermarket. We reach a paved street of the urbanization and continue to the right, continuing up. Just before reaching the road from Maçanet to Tapis we went to the right and climbed a climb to the forest.
We follow the curves of the road inside the cork oak forest of Can Pitxó. Then we find the road and follow it 300 meters along the right bank. We take a path on the left that takes us to Campo de Rieroles. We cross the field and climb, following the road to the road. We cross the road again and follow the path that leads to the Fuente de l'Abeuredor. Here the road passes parallel to the electric line at 200 meters, on the quiet descent to the left to cross the Tapis road for the third time. We go down to the Tapis Bridge where we will cross the Arnera River. At this point of the road you can see the original cobbled road to Tapis.
We reach the Salto de l'Ós, and the path starts to go up next to the Tapis Mill, practically reaching the Sierra de l'Ou, where we find a forest track. We cross the track and continue on the Tapis road for about 200 meters. On the left we take a path that will take us to a nursery and from there we go up to the town of Tapis, where we can visit the Hermitage of San Briç. From here we can return to Maçanet de Cabrenys, undoing the climb path.
