Priorat

Priorat is a region located in the interior of Catalonia, known for its internationally renowned winemaking tradition, its mountain landscapes and its rich historical heritage. This land of wines, with the DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant designations of origin, is an ideal destination for lovers of wine, nature and tranquility.

The heart of the Priorat is its capital, Falset, a welcoming town with a strong wine-making character. In Falset you can visit the Bodega Cooperativa de Falset, an impressive modernist work by the architect Cèsar Martinell, a disciple of Gaudí, where you can taste some of the best wines in the region. The Castle of Falset, which dates back to medieval times, offers a spectacular panoramic view of the region and houses the Wine Museum, where you can learn about the history of local viticulture.

One of the great attractions of the Priorat is the landscape of terraced vineyards, which unfolds between rugged mountains and deep valleys. The hillsides of the Priorat, with vineyards planted on steep slopes, are unique in Catalonia and give its wines special characteristics. Visits to the wineries, many of which are small and family-run, allow you to discover up close the passion and effort behind the production of some of the best wines in the world.

In addition to being a land of wine, Priorat has an important historical and cultural heritage. The Scala Dei Monastery, located at the foot of the Montsant mountain range, was the first Carthusian monastery on the Iberian Peninsula, founded in the 12th century. Its ruins, surrounded by a spectacular landscape, invite you to take a trip back in time and understand the spiritual and economic importance that this community had for the region.

The Serra del Montsant, declared a natural park, is another of the region's great attractions. This mountain range with its rugged shapes is ideal for lovers of hiking, climbing and other outdoor activities. Its paths offer impressive views of the Priorat and a great diversity of fauna and flora.

The gastronomy of Priorat is deeply rooted in the land and in local products. Dishes such as cabbage and potato carvings, grilled meats and nuts are the stars of the tables in its restaurants, often paired with the region's wines.

Stay here, enjoy the terraced vineyards, explore the historical heritage and be captivated by the authentic flavours of Priorat, a land where vineyards, nature and history come together to offer a unique experience.
