Catalans have always been known for their wanderlust, their innate curiosity, and their passion for exploring new horizons. This desire to explore the world has led many to seek out authentic and enriching experiences in every corner of the globe.

However, they have often encountered a language barrier that makes it difficult to fully immerse themselves in the culture and history of the sites they visit. It is in this context that the Associació de Guies Catalans del Món (AGCM) was born, a non-profit organization whose main mission is to offer tourist services in Catalan worldwide.

A little history

Founded in 2012, the AGCM emerged in response to the lack of international Catalan-language tourism offerings. Since its inception, the association has worked tirelessly to create a global network of licensed Catalan-speaking local guides, making it easier for Catalan travelers to enjoy guided tours in their native language, regardless of their destination.

The effort has been officially recognized; on October 23, 2018, the AGCM was awarded the Special Mention Prize by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) during the 7th Pompeu Fabra Awards, which are presented to individuals, entities, companies, and organizations that work to promote the Catalan language.

What destinations are there?

Currently, the AGCM has a significant presence in more than 25 destinations across five continents. In Europe, you can find routes through iconic cities or more adventurous experiences. In Asia, destinations include Japan and Cambodia. In Oceania, New Zealand is a prominent option. In the Americas, travelers can enjoy Catalan-language services in New York, the legendary Route 66, and Mexico. Finally, in Africa, Senegal, Gambia, and Morocco are some of the available destinations.

How does the AGCM work?

The association's operation is simple and efficient. Those interested can visit the official AGCM website, where they will find a wide range of available destinations. Once they have selected their desired destination, detailed information is provided on the guides or agencies that offer services in Catalan in that location. From there, travelers can contact the guide or agency directly to finalize the details of their visit, tailoring it to their needs and preferences.

The activities offered by the AGCM guides are varied and tailored to each traveler's needs. These include:
