The 14th Medinyà Storytelling Fair is here!

The 14th edition of the Medinyà Story Fair is coming on September 15, 2024, a day full of magic, literature and activities for all ages. This cultural event has become an essential event for lovers of stories and children's literature.

With a varied programme that includes tributes, shows and book presentations, the fair once again fills the town of Medinyà with the spirit of creativity and imagination.

The Medinyà Story Fair was founded in 2010, inspired by the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen 's visit to the town in 1862. Since then, this event has grown to become a benchmark for children's and young adult literature in Catalonia.

An Image That Reflects the Magic of Stories

This year, the official image of the fair has been created by illustrator Marta Biel Tres. Her work presents the Three Little Pigs perched on a tower of books, symbolizing the beginning of a new reading adventure. This illustration not only represents the spirit of the fair, but has also been used for the creation of the commemorative T-shirt, an item highly anticipated by attendees.

Tribute to the Creators of Teo

One of the highlights of the 14th Medinyà Story Fair will be the tribute to Violeta Denou, the pseudonym behind the creators of the famous children's character Teo. This trio of artists has captivated generations of readers for more than 45 years. The event will take place at 12.15 pm, with a glossary by Nuxu Perpiñán.

Literary Vermouth

The Fairy Tale Fair will also offer spaces for conversation and the exchange of ideas. This event will be hosted by librarian Taïs Sánchez and will take place at 11.15 am at the Espai Els Tres Porquets. Shows throughout the day

The 14th Medinyà Story Fair will offer a wide variety of shows throughout the day. One of the highlights is Goodbye Peter Pan, by the Festuc Teatre company, a moving play that tells the story of a girl who spends her afternoons playing Peter Pan with her grandfather. In addition, you can enjoy El Carro de Contes with Diana Kerbelis, a magical and sensory show that combines stories, music and sounds. These and other performances, such as Planeta Blau by the Planeta Estel Company and La Cric, la Crac i l'enrenou dels contes by Teatro de Contacto, will fill Medinyà with stories for children and adults.

Book Presentations

An essential part of the Fira are the book presentations. This year, the highlight is the new edition of El Petit País del Senyor Pelut by Anna Font, which will be explained by Emma Ferrer and translated into sign language by Sandra Roura. This edition includes a proposal for accompanied reading, designed to encourage reading among the youngest children. In addition, other works will be presented, such as La Nana i l'avi Papet descobreixen l'Alícia by Anna Roig Dolz and Amunt, dormilegues! by Laura Quicios and Valentí Gubianas, with a live illustration by Gubianas that will be raffled off among attendees.

EXHIBITIONS

The Medinyà Story Fair will also offer a wide variety of literary exhibitions, highlighting the connection between art, literature and creativity. Among the highlights is "Paisatges literaris d'àlbums il·lustrats", presented by ÁLBUM! (the Association of Independent Publishers of Children's and Young Adult Literature), a display of the diverse landscape, real and imagined, that has inspired artists of writing and illustration when creating stories or albums.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the creations of students from the Santa Fe de Medinyà and Castellum de Sant Julià de Ramis schools, as well as a collection of stories by students from the IES Sarrià de Ter. Visitors will also be able to visit the exhibition with the creations presented in the Fair's Graphic Image Competition, a recognition of the creative talent of this year's participants.
