Terrassa reinforces its commitment to sustainable tourism. This recognition, which is part of the Biosphere Destinació Barcelona Commitment to Sustainable Tourism program, reaffirms the city's commitment to sustainability and quality in the management of its tourist services.
A seal of quality for Terrassa
The Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle certification, promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce with the support of the Responsible Tourism Institute, is managed by the Vallès Occidental Regional Council. This distinction is awarded to those destinations and tourist services that comply with the with strict quality and sustainability standards, and that demonstrate a clear commitment to the responsible and sustainable management of their resources.
The Terrassa Tourist Office, which obtained its first certification in 2017, has renewed the distinction this year, consolidating itself as a benchmark in the promotion of a tourism model that is respectful of the environment and local communities. On the other hand, the Terrassa Headquarters Égara and Casa Alegre de Sagrera, certified for the first time in 2019, have also renewed this seal, reaffirming their commitment to sustainability and the cultural heritage of the city.
The value of sustainable commitment
This recognition not only reflects the quality of the tourist services in Terrassa, but also highlights the city's willingness to adapt to the new challenges presented by modern tourism. The concept of sustainable development, which encompasses sociocultural, environmental and social aspects, economic, is central to the tourism management of Terrassa. This not only contributes to the satisfaction of visitors, but also improves the quality of life of residents.
The National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC), which received its certification in 2018, is another example of Terrassa's commitment to sustainability. New additions to the sustainable commitment
In addition to the renewal of the certifications, Terrassa has also celebrated the incorporation of new companies into the Compromís per la Sostenibilitat Biosphere programme. Among the new additions are Parc Vallès, a shopping and leisure centre, and Biufood, a company specialising in nutrition, gastronomy and agroecology. These companies join a group of 16 services and companies in the city that have been distinguished for their commitment to sustainability: Emociones, Eurostars Don Cándido, Alojamiento CIMA, MNACTEC, Sede de Égara, Casa Alegre de Sagrera, Terrassa Tourist Office, El Generador, Masía Egara, Vallparadís Hostel, Atlético Terrassa Hockey Club, Real Club de Golf El Prat, 3 Colinas, history and heritage, Crisálida Comunicación, Campus la Mola.
These additions are proof of how the business fabric of Terrassa is aligned with the city's sustainability goals. From companies that organize activities in the natural environment, such as Emociones, to accommodations such as the Eurostars Don Cándido, as well as educational and cultural projects Like CIMA or El Generador, all these initiatives work to offer a quality tourist experience, always with an environmentally friendly approach.
