Live autumn in Roses!

Are you one of those who believes that visiting Roses can only be done in summer? Mistake! When the days get shorter and the cold begins to feel, this natural paradise in the north of the Costa Brava is even more welcoming. And it is that Roses has so much to offer that it can afford to have many hidden treasures in summer, and reserve many others for those who know how to appreciate the details, which make it unique in autumn.

Certainly, the activities are not the same as in summer, but what we will discover about Roses below will make you quickly forget the beach, offering you alternatives as interesting and relaxing as the others.

WALKING ROUTES

Apart from the spectacular bay and the maritime façade that Roses has, it can also boast an idyllic natural environment that you can discover at your own pace through various hiking trails.

We will put on good shoes and choose the route that most appeals to us, such as the mythical Camino de Ronda or the GR92, coming across coves that a few months ago offered us long days of sun and bathing and now are deserted, clean and mysterious, or if we prefer to know its historical heritage, we can make one of its megalithic itineraries. We can also go from the seashore to the Pic de l'Àliga (463 m) where we will contemplate a wide view of the bay, or take a walk up to the Puig Alt (492 m) that will allow us to discover the harshness of the landscape Cap de Creus from its highest point. Discover the old farmhouses of Roses through the Sierra de Rodes, take a route through the olive groves or a walk to the Visigoth Castrum. And far from mass tourism, this time is also perfect for taking a walk along its promenade.

BICYCLE ROUTES

In recent years, the Costa Brava has developed enormous potential as a sports destination, offering 100% cycling services and experiences. With very pleasant temperatures throughout the year, many kilometers of road await you in Roses to travel safely on a mountain, road or gravel bike.

In the same outing you can join the best coves of Roses with points of interest in the area as spectacular as the Aiguamolls del Empordà, Albera, Cabo de Creus or Cadaqués. All this through a wide network of secondary roads, tracks and trails that will lead you through landscapes as diverse as they are surprising.

SEASONAL KITCHEN

There are many excuses to fall in love with Roses, but there is one that everyone would surely agree on, and if you are one of those who is won over by your stomach, get ready to try authentic Rosinca cuisine!

Roses has the most important fishing port on the Costa Brava that daily supplies the town with fresh fish and shellfish. Both the departure and the arrival of the boats is a spectacle. The traditional and most representative dish of the town is the Suquet de Peix, which can be tasted throughout the year in different restaurants. Both the traditional cuisine and the prestigious modern gastronomy are dominated by the Mediterranean character of this territory: fresh fish, anchovies, olive oil, products from the garden, honey and meat of excellent quality.

We cannot forget to accompany these meals with the wines produced by the region's wineries under the Empordà Denomination of Origin: young wines, fruity rosés, whites with wood, coupage aging, cavas and the emblematic Grenache. You will find them in many of the restaurants in Roses, but we also suggest you take a wine route through the cooperatives and wineries in the region that will surely surprise you pleasantly.

If you want to taste Rosinca gastronomy, from September 23 to December 21, the Roses Seasonal Cuisine campaign is carried out in which many restaurants offer dishes, menus or tapas designed with autumn products from the area.

If we still haven't given you enough reasons to visit Roses this autumn, take a look at the agenda: on November 12 and 13 "Indian Summer of Sant Martí" is celebrated with the Festivalet de Roses, a proposal that aims to unite the unique landscape of the bay with music, culture and gastronomy, a poster to enjoy it from the beach, with the sunset as a backdrop, tasting the typical dishes of Roses.

WHEN THE SUN SETS ON ROSES…

The last plan in Roses that we propose is not exclusive to the hottest months of the year and you can enjoy it as long as the sky is not cloudy, we assure you that its sunsets will leave you breathless.

Some of the most magical corners to see this show are the Roses breakwater, a perfect setting to capture the colors and impossible shapes of the clouds, the Castillo de la Trinidad from where you will portray the orange, yellow and red tones of the sky that are reflected in the sea, the promenade while the sun goes down behind the exuberant palm trees and the war cannons, or the Port of Roses, especially when the fishing boats return to the pier as the sun goes down...
