Get ready to enjoy the Industrial Tourism Week of Catalonia!

For 10 days, museums, old factories, mines, textile colonies, interpretation centres and various companies affiliated with the Industrial Tourism Network of Catalonia (XATIC) will offer a variety of activities for all audiences.

Industrial Tourism Week (STI) 2024 begins on Friday 18 October with the opening ceremony in Ascó, marking the start of a varied programme of activities for all audiences with the aim of discovering Catalonia's industrial heritage.

This initiative is the result of a collective effort promoted by the Industrial Tourism Network of Catalonia (XATIC), where associated companies open their doors to visitors. In addition, other spaces, resources and events are added from time to time, offering a diverse and enriching look at the industrial past of the territory. The joint action aims to give visibility to both individual and collective proposals that make up the Catalan industrial fabric.

One of the most relevant proposals is Embarrats, a festival that takes Sant Joan de Vilatorrada back to 1920. More than 200 volunteers participate in theatrical performances throughout the week, recreating the daily life of the industrial Sant Joan of that era. Visitors will be able to enjoy a unique journey back in time: from visits to factories in operation to scenes of rural life, with characters such as washerwomen, authorities who inaugurate the festival or the consecration of the church by Bishop Torres y Bages. All this in an environment full of music, dance and an atmosphere that will bring the past back to life.

In addition, numerous activities have been organised to suit all tastes, such as exhibitions, guided and monographic tours, bread-making courses and family workshops on making biscuits. This Industrial Tourism Week offers surprises and unique experiences for everyone, inviting you to discover the rich heritage that is part of our territory.

Get on the Bus in Cegas!

On Saturday 19 October, one of the most eagerly awaited activities will take place: the six routes of the Bus to Cegues. In this unique experience, participants will explore surprising industrial sites without knowing their destination until their arrival. This innovative format offers a new and exciting way to connect with the industrial history of the territory.
