A Most with more films about wine than ever will celebrate the opening of the new VINSEUM
The Most Festival 2024 will be held from 7 to 17 November in Vilafranca del Penedès and from 27 November to 1 December in Priorat.
What is the Most Festival?
The Most Festival is an international event that brings together the best audiovisual productions related to the culture of vineyards, wine and cava. The festival not only celebrates these themes, but also toasts cinematic excellence with the screening of films by great directors that have not yet been released commercially.
Based in Penedès and, since 2016, also in Priorat, two regions with a long wine tradition and numerous wine tourism attractions, the Most Festival aims to promote wine arts and cultures through audiovisual creation. The festival explores oenology from multiple perspectives, promoting values such as quality, diversity and connection with the territory.
In addition, the Most Festival has established itself as a central pillar of the activities to promote wine culture that are organised in both regions during the celebration of the European Day of Wine Tourism, which takes place on the second Sunday in November.
This year's Most Festival
This edition will be special, as it will coincide with the inauguration of the new VINSEUM, the Museum of Wine Cultures of Catalonia and, to celebrate it, the festival will present a graphic image that highlights the global dimension of local culture.
The Argentine region of Mendoza will be the guest country this year. Mendoza is the largest wine-growing region in Argentina, renowned for its exceptional natural conditions for growing grapes, and the festival will focus on this Andean region.
The festival's image, created by Barcelona studio Els Catalans, is inspired by the "Mural de la viña y del vino" by Pau Boada, an artist from Villafranca. The poster reinterprets the mural, showing different phases of the wine production process in a series of images that tell the story of wine from the harvest to consumption.
As every year, the festival will offer a selection of films related to the world of wine in the Collita section, as well as international previews in the Gran Reserva section. In addition, you can enjoy the best national short films in the Brot section.
As a novelty, this year the Llavor section will be introduced, dedicated to projects in the development phase of film schools.
In the Collita section, 46 works from 10 countries will compete, with a record 1,412 minutes of screenings, 15% more than the previous edition. These works address themes such as the role of women in the wine sector, the climate emergency and the resilience of vineyards in conflict environments, among other aspects of global relevance.
