Experience the Enramades: the splendor of the Flower Carpets in Catalonia!

The Enramades are one of the oldest and most deeply rooted popular festivals in various towns in Catalonia. This celebration, of medieval origin, is linked to the feast of Corpus Christi and consists of decorating the streets with flowers, leaves, garlands, and other ornamental elements, creating a visual spectacle of great beauty.
Although the tradition has been maintained in different towns, the Enramades of Arbúcies and Sallent are especially renowned. In these municipalities, the festival has evolved and adapted over time, but retains the essence of decorating the streets to celebrate a collective holiday.
In Arbúcies, for example, the Enramades have been celebrated for centuries and have been declared a Traditional Festival of National Interest. One of the most characteristic elements are the spectacular flower carpets that cover the streets, creating authentic ephemeral works of art made with petals, dyed sawdust, and other natural materials. These compositions often depict religious or cultural motifs or scenes from nature. During the festival days, there are also parades, giant dances, concerts, and popular meals.
In Sallent, the Enramades have a special character, as they remain one of the municipality's most representative festivals. The streets are filled with decorations made by the residents, and each neighborhood is responsible for decorating a section with various motifs, often using recycled or innovative elements. Music and dance also take center stage, with sardanas, concerts, and other traditional performances.
Although Las Enramades have a religious origin, today they have become a popular celebration that combines art, culture, and civic participation. Neighbors work together for weeks to design and prepare the decorations, fostering community spirit and collaboration. This involvement makes the festival different every year, with new designs and creative proposals that keep the tradition alive.
