Festival of San Juan in Espluga de Francolí

LaEspluga de Francolí will live one more year a festival of San Juan full of party and tradition!

The Verbena de San Juan in Espluga de Francolí opens the summer events in the municipality. La Espluga is, historically, one of the distribution points of the Llama in the Catalan Countries, an initiative that for many years the Club Atlético Espluguí has ensured to bring the Llama del Canigó to the municipality.

On June 23, San Juan festival, L'Espluga becomes the popular epicenter of celebration of this date of celebration of the summer equinox. The Popular Culture and the Devils of the Espluga de Francolí, entity that leads the organization of the acts, become its protagonists.

On the afternoon of the festival, the Llama del Canigó arrives at Espluga de Francolí, brought from Artesa de Segre, and from Font Baixa it is transported to Plaza Montserrat Canals with the accompaniment of Esplugin popular culture entities and local authorities. It is in this location that the relief of the Llama is passed to some twenty towns in the region and surrounding areas. From the hands of the CAE children, they are in charge of lighting the cauldron that kicks off the events.

The parliaments conclude the first part of the acts, with the reading of the manifesto of the Fires of San Juan. The fireworks of the day arrive at night as part of the show directed by the Diablos de la Espluga. Next, the correfoc begins up to the Montserrat Canals square, where it will end with the reading of the manifesto and the lighting of the bonfire. In the same space, the festival will last all night with the best music.
