TRAPEZI, Circus Fair of Catalonia in Reus

Since 1997, the city of Reus has deployed a large sail that covers streets and squares to receive the Trapezi, the Circus Fair of Catalonia. Year after year, every May, the city fills the streets and theaters with shows and also hosts candle shows that turn Reus's squares into scenic spaces and transform the city into a great circus ring.

With its own label open to the new disciplines of the circus world, with a contemporary and newly created look, the Trapezi becomes a frame of reference for all circus lovers, professionals, programmers and the public, who have in the month May a reason to meet in the city of Reus.

The Circus Fair of Catalonia, the Trapezi, has been awarded the National Circus Award in 2012, awarded by the Ministry of Culture. Previously, in 2007, the Generalitat awarded the National Culture Prize to the artistic directors of the Trapezi, in recognition of their contribution to the dignification and development of the circus in Catalonia, both artistically and for its impact on the public; for the desire for cultural decentralization and regional revitalization; for being a meeting and exchange center, and for having become a benchmark among European festivals.
