Les Santes, Mataró Festival

Les Santes de Mataró returns for another year to enjoy multiple activities such as big heads, giants, fireworks displays or concerts!

In July, in Mataró, it is synonymous with a major festival. Fire, music and comparsas are some of the protagonists of more than a hundred acts that year after year bring the people of Matara to the streets day and night.

Every year on July 25 at 8:00 p.m., the Crida de la Fiesta Mayor summons citizens to meet in front of the balcony of the Town Hall to kick off five days of festivities.

There are activities for all tastes and for all audiences: from the Nit Boja with the Desvetllament Bellugós and the Escapada a Negra Nit to the Anem a tancar, the last parade of the comparsas. There is no shortage of such traditional and popular acts as the Misa de Les Santes, the Fireworks and even the Matinades that go through the streets of the city to announce that the Diada is coming.

Les Santes have been celebrated around July 27, since the first half of the 19th century, in honor of the city's patron saints: Santa Juliana and Santa Semproniana.

Since 1979 Les Santes have been incorporating many events into their program and many festive elements have been added and currently the Mataró Festival is considered one of the most powerful in the Catalan calendar, reaching the consideration of a heritage festival of national interest. awarded in 2010.
