The Battle of Vilallonga del Camp

The Dr. Pere Virgili Study Center organizes the reenactment of the Battle of Vilallonga del Camp of March 1, 1838.

During the day there will be several events, you can visit different places of cultural interest in Vilallonga del Camp and there will be demonstrations of the making of brandy and the operation of the looms.

Every town has historical events that are remembered for generations. One that the people of Vilallonga remembered for a long time was the battle that took place in the town square and streets on March 1, 1838, between the Carlists and the National Militia of Reus.

Through several historical reenactments, you can relive that fateful day, marked by the large number of dead, wounded, and imprisoned. This was just one of the many battles fought throughout Catalonia during the First Carlist War (1833-1840), a conflict that shaped significant moments in Catalan history, and in which Vilallonga played a key role.

In addition, traditional dances and demonstrations of some trades from that era, as well as the possibility of visiting our museums and unique buildings, allow everyone who wishes to do so to enjoy this day.
