The Battle of Villalonga del Camp

The Dr. Pere Virgili Study Center organizes the reenactment of the Battle of Villalonga del Camp on March 1, 1838.

During the day there will be several events, you can visit different spaces of cultural interest in Vilallonga del Camp and there will be demonstrations of the production of liquor and the operation of the looms.

All peoples have anniversaries that are remembered for many generations. One that the people of Villalonga remembered for a long time was the battle that took place in the square and in the streets of the town on March 1, 1838 between the Carlists and the National Militia of Reus.

Through several scenes of historical reenactment, you will be able to relive that disastrous day due to the large number of dead, injured and imprisoned there were. One more battle among those that took place throughout the Catalan territory during the First Carlist War (1833-1840), which marked important moments in the history of Catalonia, and in which Villalonga was the protagonist.

In addition, traditional dances and the demonstration of some crafts of the time, as well as the possibility of visiting our museums and unique buildings allow everyone who wants to enjoy this day.
