Habaneras sung in Altafulla

Year after year, every first weekend in August, a musical and cultural tradition has been established and consolidated that has spread to the whole of Catalonia.

Altafulla celebrates the Cantada de Habaneras! Habaneras are songs from the seafaring tradition that became popular in Cuba and later became known on the Catalan coast during the 19th century.

Different musical groups will perform Havana songs in a special setting by the sea, the Parc Voramar. The coastal location of Altafulla gives a charming and idyllic touch to the event, since the sound of the habaneras harmonizes with the waves of the sea, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere.
