Habaneras sung in Altafulla

Year after year, every first weekend in August it has been possible to establish and consolidate a musical and cultural tradition that has spread throughout Catalonia.

Altafulla celebrates the Cantada de Habaneras! Habaneras are traditional seafaring songs that became popular in Cuba and later became known on the Catalan coast during the 19th century.

Different musical groups will perform Havana songs on a special stage next to the sea, the Parc Voramar. The coastal location of Altafulla gives a charming and idyllic touch to the event, as the sound of the habaneras harmonizes with the waves of the sea, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere.
