Habanera singing in Altafulla

Year after year, every first weekend in August, a musical and cultural tradition has been established and consolidated that has spread throughout Catalonia.

Altafulla celebrates the Habanera Singing Festival! Habaneras are traditional sea shanties that became popular in Cuba and later became known on the Catalan coast during the 19th century.

The performance will feature the groups Escamarlans de Palau and Vent Fort, two ensembles that will lend their voices and music to an evening marked by memories, tradition, and a Mediterranean atmosphere. Habaneras are part of the musical heritage of many coastal towns and continue to be a special way to share stories, emotions, and moments of connection.

As is customary in these types of celebrations, there will be no shortage of burnt rum, reinforcing the popular and friendly character of a night designed to be enjoyed calmly, listening to good music and letting yourself be carried away by the summer atmosphere.

The Altafulla Town Council will also offer a transport service to facilitate attendance at the singing event, with prior reservation, a measure that helps to make the activity more accessible and comfortable for the public.

The Altafulla Habanera Singing is an invitation to experience a peaceful, emotional and very Mediterranean evening, sharing music, tradition and a great atmosphere in one of the most beloved spaces in the municipality.
