Habaneras sung in Tossa de Mar

Es Racó (Playa Grande) is the place chosen for a new edition of the sung Cantada de habaneras de Tossa de Mar.

The habaneras have, as their name indicates, their origin in Cuba from where the Catalan sailors imported them in the 19th century.

On the Costa Brava, these songs were mainly sung in taverns during the long winter evenings. The grandparents in the villages remember this time before the tourist invasion of the Catalan coast put an end to this tradition.

Many of the greatest habaneras were only transmitted orally. That is why numerous habaneras exist in different versions.

Do not miss it!
