Steam Festival at the Móra la Nova Railway Museum
On the weekend of March 9 and 10, the Railway Museum in Móra la Nova and the National Museum of Science and Technology organize a new activity called the Steam Festival. The Festival wants to highlight those pieces from the Museum's collection that use steam engine technology.
The museum has several locomotives from this era and has already restored the Cuco locomotive, the oldest in operation in Catalonia, which will be one of the stars of the weekend. But it will not be alone, since during these days other steam locomotives in operation that will come from other parts of Catalonia will also be exhibited.
Among others, there will be the presence of the Centennial Train locomotive, a replica of the first steam locomotive on the peninsula, the Mataró, which was built to mark the first hundred years of the line inaugurated in 1848.
Furthermore, the Festival wants to give an overview of steam technology, which will not be limited to the railway field, and the presence of other vehicles based on the steam engine, such as cars, tractors and static engines, is planned. The event has the collaboration of the Spanish Railways Foundation, ADIF, Sabadell Railway Modeling Center, Edmoron Historical Railway Imprenta, RNAautilus, Platform for the Defense of the Historical Heritage of the Barcelona Firefighters, and the Vintage Tractor Museum.
Visitors will be able to see some of these vehicles in motion and, in the case of trains, there will be compositions with passenger cars and wagons, on board of which tours can be taken. There will also be model railway circuits, also with steam locomotives, which will allow routes to be taken. You can consult the complete program by clicking on "access link". In short, it is a new activity designed both for families who wish to enjoy a day of discovering this technology and for steam fans.
