The Barcelona International Comics Fair is an annual event that brings together comic book authors, publishers, and readers. It has been held in Barcelona since 1981, with the exception of 1986 and 1987, when it was cancelled due to budgetary reasons. This event has become a major reference point for Catalan and Spanish comics, and since 1988 it has been organized by FICOMIC, a non-profit organization whose objective is the dissemination and promotion of comics and manga.
During the Comic Fair, a specialized jury awards several prizes recognizing quality and creativity in the world of comics. Among the most prestigious are the Grand Prize, the Best Work Award, the Best New Author Award, the Best Fanzine Award, and the Best Foreign Work Award.
The Comic Book Fair is not only a space for competition, but also a great opportunity for interaction between professionals and fans. Visitors can enjoy talks, panel discussions, and author presentations, as well as numerous activities related to the world of comics. Furthermore, Barcelona, with its rich cultural and artistic scene, provides the perfect backdrop for this event.
