Feast of Saint Anne in Santpedor

Santpedor once again goes all out to celebrate the festival of Saint Anne, the town's patron saint!

As July draws to a close and summer is in full swing, one of the most important dates on Santpedor's festive calendar arrives. This celebration has been observed for over 500 years, since Santpedor made its first vow to Saint Anne of Claret in 1507, in response to the bubonic plague of that year.

Times have changed a lot since then, but the spirit of the patron saint's festival remains alive, thanks to the involvement of everyone who participates. Without losing the essence of the festival, the events continue to be enhanced, and this year's program includes activities for all ages.

The Plaza Gran U de Octubre will host the ringing of bells, the awards ceremony for the flower-decorated balconies contest, the renewal of vows in Santa Anna, and a showcase of popular culture with the participation of local organizations. The day will also include a sausage barbecue and dancing, in a festive and participatory atmosphere.

The following day will be marked by the popular pilgrimage walk to the hermitage, with the flag and offering to the patron saint. Once there, there will be a communal breakfast, Mass in honor of Saint Anne, the rosary, a visit to the saint's image, and a performance of sardanas (traditional Catalan dances). A free train will also run throughout the day to facilitate access to the hermitage.

The festival will be rounded out with activities aimed at young people, such as the music competition and the closing concert of Estiu Jove, with a food truck service.

A celebration born from devotion, memory, music and village life to share a weekend of tradition and festivities in Santpedor.
